Solvent Extraction Plants

Solvent Extraction, as the name suggests is a process to extract the oil from oil bearing materials by means of Solvent, Solvent used being normal Hexane – a petroleum by-product.

Troika’s proven design is simple, robust, operator friendly flexible for easy change over of the process material and with inbuilt safety features. Troika plants have been operating for almost four decades.

The extractor is horizontal in construction a concept with universal acceptance, in fact most of the extraction plants working through out the world have adopted horizontal design of extractor. The extractor works on counter current, moving bed principal with variable bed height and variable speed mechanism permitting excellent penetration and percolation of solvent for absolute extraction. The low speed of extractor conveyor ensures almost no maintenance. Distillation takes place under vacuum and desolventising of meal is done in liberally designed Desolventiser Toaster. For solvent recovery adequate capacity condensers and vent air stripping system is provided.

Solvent Extraction Plants offered by Troika are versatile in operation. Any oil bearing material after subjecting it to recommended preparation can be extracted in the same Solvent Extraction Plant.

Castor Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Castor Seed – Solvent Extraction:
Castor seed is a very important oil seed. The castor oil has very large industrial use. Castor seed contains more than 48% oil.

At first stage the oil is recovered by mechanical pressing in oil mill with the help of expellers / screw presses. The resultant cake contains 10 to 12% oil. This oil is recovered by solvent extraction process. – Details available on request.

 

 

Groundnuts / Peanuts Solvent Extraction Plant

Groundnuts / Peanuts – Solvent Extraction:
Groundnuts / Peanuts are first decorticated to remove the husk. The kernels so obtained have an oil content in excess of 48%. The kernels are subjected to mechanical extraction with the help of screw presses. The resultant cake has residual oil content varying from 8 to 12% depending on the extent of pressing. The pre-pressed cake is subjected to solvent extraction process for recovery of the residual oil. - Details available on request.

 

Sunflower Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Sunflower Seed – Solvent Extraction:
Sunflower seeds contain more than 45% of oil. The seeds are first subjected to decortications to obtain high protein meal, the decorticated Sunflower seeds are subjected to mechanical extraction. In one method only pre-pressing is carried out leaving 18 to 20% as residual oil in the pre-pressed cake. In the second method full pressing is carried out in screw presses leaving 10 to 12% residual oil in the fully pressed cake. For recovery of residual left over oil in the cake, the cake is subjected to solvent extraction process. - Details available on request.

 

Cotton Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Cotton Seed – Solvent Extraction :
Cotton seeds need specific preparation before extraction. Cotton seeds have to be cleaned to remove foreign particles, de-linted to remove the lint’s, decorticated for removing the hard husk and the resultant meat obtained contains about 35% oil. The meat is subjected to mechanical pressing. The first portion of the oil is removed during mechanical pressing, the resultant cake with residual oil content ranging from 8 to 12% is sent for solvent extraction. The solvent extraction of pre-pressed cotton seed cake is like normal solvent extraction of any pre-pressed cake. - Details available on request.

 

Soya Bean Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Soya bean Seed – Solvent Extraction:
Soya bean seeds contain 16 to 18% oil. Normally soya bean seeds are not subjected to mechanical pressing but the entire oil is extracted after preparation of the seeds in the solvent extraction plant.

Preparation of soya bean seeds includes seed cleaning, destining, cracking, husk separation (if required), cooking, flaking, expanding and drying. The prepared expanded soya flakes are sent for solvent extraction. Solvent extraction is carried out in the normal fashion. Rice Bran Solvent Extraction Plant

Rice bran – Solvent Extraction:
Rice bran is by-product obtained during rice milling operation. This is golden reddish cuticle obtained after removal of the husk and during polishing of the rice. Rice bran contains 16 to 22% oil and this oil is recovered by solvent extraction process. Rice bran being floury material it is essential to palletize the bran before being put to solvent extraction process. Shea Nut Solvent Extraction Plant

Shea nut – Solvent Extraction:
Shea nut contains special quality oil called shea butter. Shea nut at first is subjected to mechanical extraction with the help of screw presses. The resultant cake containing 14 to 16% oil (butter) is subjected to solvent extraction. The preparation required is cooking and flaking. – Details available on request.

 

Sal Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Sal Seed – Solvent Extraction:
Sal fat is a good cocoa butter substitute. The fat content of the sal seed is 16 to 18% , the oil is recovered by direct solvent extraction process. The seeds are subjected to cracking, cooking and flaking prior to solvent extraction. – Details available on request.

 

Canola / Rape Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Canola / Rape Seed – Solvent Extraction:
Canola / Rape seeds contains more than 45% oil. The major oil is recovered by mechanical pressing in screw presses. The seeds are subjected either to pre-pressing in screw presses leaving left over residual oil in the cake in the range of 16 to 20% or the seeds are subjected to full pressing in which case oil left over has residual oil in the cake ranging between 8 to 10%. The cake is subjected to solvent extraction for recovery of the residual oil. - Details available on request.

 

Palm Kernel Solvent Extraction Plant

Palm Kernel – Solvent Extraction:
Palm Kernel is obtained during palm fruit processing. Palm kernel itself is a hard seed and it is to be cracked and decorticated prior to recovery of the oil. Palm kernel contains more than 45% oil. Palm kernels are first subjected to mechanical pressing in the oil mill with the help of screw presses where portion of oil is recovered, the resultant palm kernel cake containing 14 to 16% oil is subjected to solvent extraction for recovery of balance oil. – Details available on request.

 

Copra Solvent Extraction Plant

Copra – Solvent Extraction:
Copra (coconut) contains more than 50% oil. The oil is recovered first by mechanical pressing in an oil mill. The resultant cake obtained having 10 to 12% oil is subjected to solvent extraction in normal way for recovery of residual oil. – Details available on request.

Minor Oil seeds – Solvent Extraction:
Oil is recovered from less known, wild forest product oil seeds like Neem seeds, Mahua seeds, Karanj seed and lot of varieties of seeds by solvent extraction process.
